Sambar Rice



Ingredients

Rice-1 cup
Toor Dal-1 cup
Shallots- 8
Sambar powder-2 tsp
Tamarind pulp-2 tsp
Coriander Powder-1tsp
Red chilli powder- 1tsp
Turmeric - a pinch
Green chillie-3
coriander leaves
Ghee/oil-1tsp

For seasoning
Urad dal-1tsp
Chana dal-1tsp
Mustard seeds-1tsp
Jeera-1tsp
red chilli-1
Garlic pods-4
curry leaves

Method of preparation

1)Wash rice and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
2)Wash toor dal and pressure cook it till one whistle.
3)In an electric cooker add rice,toor dal,tamarind pulp,sambar powder,salt,red chilli powder,coriander powder.
4)Heat a tsp of ghee in a pan and do the seasoning with mustard seeds,urad dal,chana dal,turmeric,garlic pods,curry leaves.Add shallots,green chillies to seasoning and toss them for a minute.
5)Add the seasoning to rice rice and dal mixture.Add 3.5 cups of water and cook till done.
6)Serve it hot with any veggie fry and papad.
->If using a pressure cooker cook for 10-15 minutes.
